year-end review
1. Was 2008 a good year for you?
it was a weird year, an eventful year, with highs and lows.

2. What was your least favorite moment of the year?
several unresolvable argument-conversations. (all with the same person).

3. What was your favorite moment of the year?
it's an accumulation of several times: when i realized i'd seen hannah in 4 separate cities, and spent the more time with her in one year than in the last 5 combined. and that whatever lapses in communication we have, she really is my lifelong friend.

4. What are your plans for 2009?
get more professional recognition.. bake more.. and keep this peace of mind i've got going.

5. What countries did you visit?
germany, austria, czech republic, england.

6. What date in 2008 will remain etched in your memory?
june 27. so drunk, but so fun.

7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
ummmmm..... surviving it? there aren't many achievements possible in my line of work. personally, i'd say starting yoga was a pretty good achievement.

8. What was your biggest failure?
hm. i don't know!

9. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
nothing beyond the usual stressed out state and occasionally accidently cutting myself while cooking. and that one time i cut myself opening a pop-top soup can. that was stupid. and it bled a lot!

10. What was the best thing you bought?
hmmm.... polka dot boots, wayne's world on dvd, amber earrings from prague, for my mom.

(There's no #11)

12. Where did most of your money go?
rent. groceries. the usual places.

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
seeing hannah in berlin, the animation contest, time off at christmas.

14. What songs will always remind you of 2008? (good or bad)
i didn't listen to too much new music this year, which is surprising but considering i lost my ipod, not that surprising. umm.... oh, i've got one. comfort eagle, by cake.

15. Compared to this time last year are you:
a) Fatter or thinner? the same
b) Happier or sadder? much happier
c) Richer or poorer? breaking even.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
social things with the great people in my life. dinner parties. read books.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
working. stressing.

18. How will you be spending Christmas?
we spent it snowed in - read all day on the 'eve, was with family all day on the day, and family again on boxing day. very relaxing.

19. Which LJ users did you meet for the first time?
nobody... some i know, some i don't, but nobody appeared in my life that wasn't already introduced to it already.

20. Did you fall in love in 2008?
with berlin, yes. other love was constant and grew. :)

22. What was your favourite TV show?
south park. hands down, the best show ever.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
hate is too strong a word. but yes, there are a couple people i would like to not speak to again.

24. What was/were the best books you read?
just finished All The Names, it was quite enjoyable. the first two in the templar trilogy by jack whyte, also very good.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
ummmm.... beirut. i like them.

26. What did you want and get?
a raise... peace of mind... and hot rollers!

27. What did you want and not get?
resolution and understanding for one situation.

28. What was your favourite film this year?
this is assuming i watched many actually made *this* year. the xfiles movie was decent (for an extension of the show on the big screen), quantum of solace was good, and i think my favourite that i saw this year (but not of this year) was pride and prejudice - the kiera knightly version.

29. What did you do on your birthday?
tried to ignore the hangover i had, went to the beach with hales and matt, ate food and played trivial pursuit and laughed a lot.

30. What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?
resolution to one thing, not having to argue pointlessly for months before realizing it was pointless. and a schedule that allowed me to edit all the episodes of the cartoon, rather than skipping a few because of movie work.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
getting sharper. not so many days where i threw on whatever i found first; more thought put into it.

32. What kept you sane?
clates, emails to nicole and chels, piano students.

33. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
clive owen.

34. Which political issue stirred you the most?
the coalition and stupid harper proroguing parliament!

35. Who did you miss?
my mom, brother, dad, nicole, chelsea, and clates while he was on tour.

36. Did you treat somebody badly in 2008?
a bit, yes. i said some unpleasant things.

37. Did somebody treat you badly in 2008?
slightly, yes. same person as in the above said some unpleasant things to me. it was all justified on both accounts.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year?
nothing is insurmountable; peace of mind goes a long way; the past is past and you can't change it.

39. What would you like to have in 2009 that you didn't have in 2008?
less internal struggle about my work. more motivation with my free time.

40. How many one night stands?
none.

41. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year...
it's not a lyric, but it is a fitting summation: "Every exit is an entry to somewhere else, we only need to be willing to take the first step."
